About Rick Lillie
Hi. My name is Rick Lillie. I’m an Assistant Professor of Accounting at California State University, San Bernardino.
While my discipline is accounting, I have been involved in distance-teaching and learning for several years. My research focuses on ways to blend consumer electronics, information technology, and telecommunications into the design and delivery of course materials and learning experiences.
Rather than taking a “Joe Hollywood” approach to creating and delivering the online learning experience, I prefer to use low-end, inexpensive technologies. My objective is to develop technics and methods that any faculty member can use and then help them to use them.
I don’t have a problem using a LMS/CMS system. CSUSB use Blackboard. While Blackboard is rather limited in what it can do, at least it provides an “instant website” for both faculty and students.
I prefer to use Blackboard as a web portal. Using the power of “hyperlinking” opens doors to exciting learning opportunities and reduces the pain inflicted by the LMS/CMS structures.
I look forward to sharing ideas and chatting with others who have similar interests.
